Vivian Edwards Obituary

Anita Edwards, 66, of Miramar Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born on July 2, 1959, in Houston, Texas, Anita lived a life defined by love, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of Kerry Edwards, with whom she shared nearly 46 wonderful years of marriage—a partnership rooted in deep love, faith, and enduring commitment.

Anita was a devoted and loving mother to her two daughters, Lauren Schlater (Eli Schlater) and Brooke Zichos (Kevin Zichos), who were the pride and joy of her life. She was also a cherished grandmother to her four grandchildren—Will and Gus Schlater, and Olivia and Elliott Zichos—each of whom brought her immeasurable happiness. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them.

Known for her warm spirit and genuine kindness, Anita never met a stranger. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, welcomed, and loved. Her laughter, compassion, and joyful presence left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She was deeply social, endlessly caring, and a true light in the lives of so many.

Even through the challenges of Alzheimer’s over the past eight years, Anita’s beautiful spirit continued to shine. Her strength, grace, and the love she shared with those around her remained evident until the very end.

Anita’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Today, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with loved ones, and in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kerry; her daughters, Lauren and Brooke, and their husbands, Eli and Kevin; her beloved grandchildren, Will, Gus, Olivia, and Elliott; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends whom will forever cherish her memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00 P.M. at Good News Church, Santa Rosa Beach, FL.

Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and honor Anita’s extraordinary life. A catered reception will follow on the church’s front porch.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Anita’s memory to DOG-HARMONY.ORG, or that acts of kindness be shared in her honor—just as she so freely gave to others throughout her life.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23

Anita’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and connection. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
