On Thursday, May 7, 2020, the sweetest woman on Earth, Valeria Yvette Cross-Thomas (Val) as she was known to family and friends, answered her Father’s call to eternal rest.
Mrs. Valeria Yvette Cross-Thomas was born on November 6, 1968 in Luverne, Alabama to Virginia Fuller and the late Willie D. Cross. She was one of three children. She attended public school in Crenshaw County, Alabama and Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Valeria eventually settled in Fort Walton Beach in 1972 were she resided until her death.
She is survived by her three children, ShaToya D. Cross, James D. Cross and Althea Yvette Thomas all of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; parents, Eric and Virginia Fuller of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; brothers, Benard (Felicia) Lee and Darren (Suzzane) Cross of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Sister, Dorothy Osbey of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Quanmeen Jones, Quanmain Jones, Rayquan Jones, Davion Cross, Adrian Thomas, Abre’ Yonna Evans, Abraham Evans and Aiden Pierson; as well as a host of uncles, aunties, step siblings, nephews and cousins. Val leaves behind her best friend Lisa Cox Evans and very special companion in life John “Paul” Florence. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie Mae Foster and Lulla Cross.
Services celebrating Valeria’s life will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Reverend S.L. Thigpen officiating at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, NE, Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547 with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. Due to the conditions in place for the coronovirus response there will not be a traditional funeral service. All friends and family are welcome during the visitation period. Visitors will be limited to a maximum of 10 visitors at a time and are asked to remember social distancing while in the funeral home.
