With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Tyler James Hardwick, who left us unexpectedly on July 1, 2025, at the age of 54, from what appears to have been a heart attack.
Tyler was a gentle soul with a kind and loyal heart. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Known for his quiet strength and deep compassion, Tyler loved without condition and lived with a calm grace that touched everyone who knew him.
He was born in Louisiana and has loved its culture throughout his life. He grew up duck hunting with family and held tightly to the traditions and spirit of his home state, especially its food, music, and sense of community. That Louisiana heritage was always a part of him, no matter where he lived, including Mobile, Alabama, and Tampa, Florida.
He had a deep love for the Lord, his family, and a natural connection to animals, especially his faithful dog, Lacey, who stayed by his side until the very end. Their bond was a comforting reminder of the love Tyler gave so freely.
Tyler found joy in the simple things; he loved playing golf and had a passion for collecting unique and quirky historic items. His curiosity and appreciation for the unusual gave him a charm that was all his own.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and the steady presence he brought into every room. His life ended far too soon, but the love he shared will live on in all of us who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Donna and Steve Banks of Destin, Florida; his sisters, Laurie (Taylor) Hood of Freeport, Cecelia (Danny) Perez of Tampa, and Medora (Matt) Kirby of Pensacola; and his brother, Chad Hardwick, also of Tampa. He was a proud uncle to Crockett Hood, Garner Hood, Ben Hardwick, Addison Hardwick, and Aydan Banks. Tyler also leaves behind his beloved dog, Lacey, and a close circle of extended family and friends whom loved him deeply.
A reception will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Destin Methodist Church. All who knew and loved Tyler are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tyler’s memory to Alaqua Animal Refuge, a cause close to his heart. Alaqua Online donation: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/sfcpsj/
