Tourey Malone Guarino, age 77, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida with her two daughters by her side.
Tourey was born in Pensacola, Florida to Lester and Stella Malone and was a long-time resident of Fort Walton Beach, spending several years in Louisiana before permanently returning. She met her husband, Lt. Col. Al Babineau, at the Fort Walton Beach Yacht Club, where he was her sailing instructor.
At the age of 40, she graduated with an accounting degree from the University of West Florida and was a career civil servant as an auditor for the United States Air Force. Her love of numbers, puzzles and following rules aided in her excelling in her profession.
Her other passions included genealogy, historical preservation and organizing class reunions for the Choctawhatchee High School Class of 1966. She also enjoyed researching the location of alumni from other classes.
She and Al were avid sailors and enjoyed traveling the United States and Europe. They loved throwing elaborate Halloween sushi parties where Tourey could showcase her talents as a hostess and decorator. She was also a talented artist and could create anything from limited materials like the time she made her daughters angel wings from wire coat hangers and pantyhose. She enjoyed baking and making the most delectable chocolate cheesecake and other decadent desserts. She rescued numerous neighborhood cats and would not hesitate to help others in need.
Tourey is survived by her daughters, Katharine Guarding Broussard (Rusty) and Denise Guarino Dierker (David); her grandchildren, Drew Dierker, Dodge Dierker, Josephine Broussard and Vivienne Broussard; her sister, Wanda Kirby (Paul); her nephew, Jeremy (Becky) Kirby and niece, Rebekah Kirby; and numerous nieces and nephews from the Babineau family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Al Babineau; her parents, Lester and Stella Malone; and her nephew, Christopher Kirby.
