Tom Anderson

Thomas “Tom” M. Anderson, age 74, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 in Miramar Beach, Florida.  He was born April 4, 1945 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to the late Angus King and Ruby Padgett Anderson.   He played on Walton High School’s Football Team and graduated with the class of 1963. Following school, he began working with his Dad’s family owned business processing and delivering chickens to local stores.  Afterwards, Tom was employed with the Walton County Sheriff’s Department as their vehicle maintenance supervisor until his retirement.  He was a member of the Glendale Masonic Lodge #225 F&AM.  Tom was known to be the kind of man who enjoyed helping others.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Chassie B. Anderson; daughter, Elena Mechelle Anderson; sisters, Dorothy Kinkey and Mary Frances Clemmons; and brother-in law, Art Kinkey.

Tom is survived by one son, Carson Anderson and wife Brenda; one daughter, Chrystal Anderson; six grandchildren, Brittney, Ethan, Trenatea, Bethany, Emily, and Acheron; one brother, Grady Anderson and wife Rae; one sister, Betty Norris; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sue Yearwood.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church beginning at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.  In keeping with Tom’s wishes, the service will end at 2:45 p.m. and committal services will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the church cemetery.
