Timothy Micheal "Mike" Burgener, age 73, passed away on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky on September 21, 1951, Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whom touched the hearts of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Allen and Irene Joyce Burgener; siblings, Micky Dell, Stuart Burgener, Ricky Burgener, and Stephan Burgener; and his father-in-law, Terry Kimbrough. Mike's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication lives on through his surviving family and friends.
Mike was a resident of Crestview for over twenty-five years. He enlisted with the United States Army as a typist and won the National Defense Service Medal Sharpshooter (Rifle). He was a passionate NASCAR fan and found joy in deep-sea fishing, stand-up comedy, working in his garden, and maintaining his yard. His contributions to the floor covering industry spanned over five decades, when he was recognized as one of the top trainers and inspectors. Mike's expertise and commitment led him to be voted Floor Cover Person of the Year in 1989, 1990, and 1992 by the readers of Floor Covering Weekly. He also formed the National Acclaimed Flooring Installation School in Birmingham, Alabama, where he shared his knowledge and skills with many.
Mike served as a board member of Nazarene churches in both Alabama and Florida, showcasing his dedication to his faith and community. He will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and unwavering love for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Lisa; and his daughters, Valerie (Derek) Parris and Jennifer (Paul) Kennedy, and his son, Shawn (Chelsey) Carlson. Mike was a proud grandfather to Marisa Parris, Alyssa Kennedy, Katie Parris, Cameron Kennedy, Taven Carlson, McKenzie Carlson, Matthew Carlson, and Damon Carlson. His surviving siblings include Allen "Scooter" (Pam) Burgener, Marlene (Doug) Hill, and Linda Seagroves. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Brenda Kimbrough; several nephews and nieces; and his furry babies, Heidi and Hannah (bumper sticker).
Mike's life was a testament to his dedication, love, and passion for his family, work, and hobbies. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene, 321 3rd Street Southeast, Cullman, Alabama, with Pastor Joe McNulty officiating.
