Thelma Lee Thompson, age 71, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at her home in Mossy Head, Florida. She was born December 11, 1950 in LaGrange, Kentucky to Zana Hudson Cheek and Charles Wood . She was a 1968 graduate of Trimble County High School. She married Timothy Thompson August 30, 1997 in Mossy Head, Florida. She was employed as an LPN and was a hospice nurse until retirement, displaying a wonderful act for caring for others. Thelma lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures: hunting with family, playing bingo, playing pool, going to the races, four wheeling, and spending time with her husband. In her last days, she fought hard and lost a courageous battle to cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy Thompson; a brother, Charles (Judy) Wood; one sister, Dianna Morris; two daughters, Twanette (Chip) Rodgers and Chrystal Anderson; five grandchildren, Amber Jenkins, Shandon Wood, Robbie Eisele, Portia Rodgers, and Cole Rodgers; seven great-grandchildren; and other family members, friends, and others whose lives Thelma touched.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433. This will be a time to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and of course just chat.
