With heavy hearts, we announced the passing of Terry Earnest, a beloved husband, father, brother and friend who left us peacefully on December 20, 2024 at the age of 73. Terry was known for his smooth charm, infectious wit and remarkable ability to fix anything, whether it was a broken appliance or a family dilemma. His humor reminded us that laughter is truly the best medicine!
Born to Embery B. Earnest and Dorothy Earnest, Terry grew into a successful, caring and supportive man. He was smart as a whip and painfully clever, there was never a dull moment with Terry! His culinary skills were legendary; he had a talent for creating meals that brought family and friends together, whether for Sunday dinners or casual barbecues.
As a devoted husband and loving father to daughters, Garlyn Earnest (JP) and Carley Coleman (Robbie); son, Chase Earnest and stepson, Ricky Turbeville (Sharley), Terry instilled values of kindness and humor in his children. He also embraced his role as a proud grandfather to many grandchildren who loved him dearly, Cortney & Britton, Ace & Ryder, Brandin & Ryan, Lucy & Sarah.
Terry is survived by his wife, Becky Earnest; sisters, Sharlyn Ricks (Charlie) and Iris Stone (Robert) and brother, Chip Earnest (Michele), who will cherish their memories of him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Embery B. Earnest and Dorothy Earnest.
Though he was departed on his journey to heaven Terry’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. It was truly an honor to know and to love Terry Earnest.
A Celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Kelly Plantation Owners Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association in Terry’s honor.
