Teran Brown, 66, of Crestview, Florida passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023.
Teran Brown was born in Boyle, Mississippi on September 15, 1956 as the fifth sibling and raised in Cleveland, Mississippi to the parents of Romey Green, Jr. and Frankie Phillips Green.
Teran began her journey with the Lord at a very young age, alongside her parents and other family members that attended St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church in Cleveland, Mississippi. While there, she was baptized, became a faithful member, sung in the church choir, and participated in many other church activities.
She later married Larry Brown, an active-duty United States Air Force (USAF) member, and they were stationed at various military installations. It was while she was stationed with him at Norton Air Force Base (San Bernardino), California that she rededicated her life to Christ and became completely sold out for the Lord, serving as a soldier in God’s army. She attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she diligently sought after the Lord, increasing her faith and belief to new levels, and then with Temple Missionary Baptist Church, seeking the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
After her husband’s tour of duty in California, they were sent to Florida where he retired from the United States Air Force and settled in Crestview, Florida. Teran joined First Church of God in Christ (FCOGIC) and served under Pastor Edward J. Parker. During her affiliation with FCOGIC, she became a serious prayer warrior and a faithful intercessor. Her desire to diligently seek the Lord continued to grow and she was baptized in the Holy Spirit and with Fire. It was after receiving this gift that she began boldly proclaiming ‘thus says the word of the Lord’. She never looked back.
After her tenure with First Church of God in Christ, Teran departed and became a member of Sonlight Covenant Church, serving under Pastor Alvin E. Smith. She was a faithful member and continued in the Lord’s calling as a dedicated prayer partner, intercessor, and warrior. She loved the Lord with all her heart, mind and strength, and prayed in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion while staying alert and being persistent in her prayers for her family, friends, and the body of Christ. Her faith was steadfast, immovable, and always abounded in the work of the Lord. Her light afflictions, which were only for a moment, worked for her a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. She embodied the peace of God which transcended all understanding and guarded her heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Teran was preceded in death by parents, Romey and Frankie Green; and her three brothers, Roosevelt Sullivan, Percy Sullivan, and Bishop Clarence Green.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Larry Brown, and their two beautiful daughters, Norka (Ty) Jenkins and Krishna (Davion) Prendergast, and devoted son, Jerry Brown; one brother, Romey Green, III, and three sisters, Zettie Johnson, Clara (Vernon) Curb, and Joe Lee Green; five grandchildren, Tyre, Tayler, and Nicholas Jenkins, Donivan Prendergast, and Julius Brown; three great-grandchildren, Valerie and Gracelynn Johnson and Thalia Graham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
A time of visitation will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at First Church of God in Christ, 986 Bay Street, Crestview, Florida 32536. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Alvin E. Smith officiating.
