Talan Kingkade Obituary

Talan Ryan Kingkade, age 17, of the Gulf Coast of Florida, formerly of Columbia, South Carolina, departed this earth January 10, 2025. He was born March 28, 2007, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia to John and Krissy Kingkade. Talan was an alumnus of Saint Joseph Catholic School in Columbia, South Carolina and went on to attend Cardinal Newman Catholic School in Columbia.

He was a talented athlete with a God-given talent in wrestling and football. While on the wrestling team at Cardinal Newman, Talan won first place in individual and team events at the South Carolina state championship tournaments multiple years. Talan also had a strong passion for football and played on the Cardinal Newman Football team. Talan was not only an exceptional wrestler and football player but had an extremely close relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom he credited his athletic successes.

Known to many as a great friend, Talan had many friends whom he had been close with since he was in preschool. Along with lifelong friends, he also met many dear friends throughout his life that were like family to him. Talan had an unwavering love for all his friends and family and especially loved his brothers and parents. He shared a very close relationship with his younger brother, Jack, so much so that if you ever saw Talan out and about, you could rest assured that Jack was close by.

He remained committed to athletics and academics after moving to Florida and had been offered a scholarship to play football at a small college in Florida.  After attending college, Talan planned to serve his country in the armed forces which was a true testament to his selflessness and servantship to help and protect others. In this time of grieving, one thing that gives us all peace is knowing that Talan would’ve had a bright and promising future. We have no doubt that he would have gone on to do great things and make a positive impact in this world just as he did his entire life.

Talan's passing has left a void in the hearts of so many people which shows just how wonderful of a person he was. As his family, we look forward to the day that we are able to see Talan again in Heaven. We know that he is running free in his beautiful, healed body and his legacy continues to be a blessing to us here on earth.

Talan is survived by his father and mother, John and Krissy Kingkade; two brothers, John and Jack; his grandparents, Richard and Dawn Gregory and Dr. and Mrs. Howard Kingkade; as well as a great grandmother, all of South Carolina.
