Sylvia Ann Garrett

Sylvia Ann Garrett, a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, in Niceville, Florida at the age of 79. She was born February 8, 1942, in Pensacola, Florida to Clark and Georgie Buzbee. Sylvia was a talented lady who excelled in art, volunteered her time to society, and held a valuable place in the work force: she painted, drew pictures, filled the position as a preschool teacher, a librarian, as well as an EMT and volunteered as a firefighter. She loved feeding and watching the wildlife around her home. It was relaxing to watch the squirrels and deer, referring to them as her, “4-legged babies.” Sylvia was also an active member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Wayne Garrett, Sr.; one son, Wayne Ray Garrett, Jr.; one daughter, Sharon Delp and husband Richard; two grandchildren, Caitlyn Cooper and husband Cody and Emily Ferguson and husband Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Justin Cooper, Sage Cooper, and Wesley Ferguson.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2021, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, 2415 Highway 1883, DeFuniak Springs Florida 32433, beginning at 1 p.m. with Dr. Mark Rathel officiating.
