Susan K. Bishop, 70, passed away January 21, 2023, at home surrounded by family. Susan was born in Hialeah, Florida to James and Ruth Phillips on November 11, 1952, with one sister, Linda Humphries. Susan lived the majority of her life in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, where she met her best friend and husband, Charles “Chuck” Bishop.
Susan loved the outdoors, traveling, and was always ready for an adventure. Together, Susan and Chuck traveled all over Florida exploring hiking trails and camping at state parks. Many summers were spent on the beaches of South Walton or on the banks of a creek. With a green thumb, she enjoyed gardening and always had a house full of plants. Susan had a soft spot for animals. During her lifetime, she homed many types of animals including Ottie, the otter. Her final fur companion was Roxy and they spent many mornings on leisurely walks in the neighborhood.
After the passing of her husband, Susan continued to live life to the fullest with her children and grandchildren. Although she didn’t say “I love you” often, she had her own way of expressing love. She loved her family dearly and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Those close to the family adored her quirky, fun-loving, go-with-the-flow personality. She was truly a one-of-a-kind.
Susan is survived by two daughters, Donna Borhes-Llewelly and husband, Tom, and Carley Morgan and husband, Don; son, Thomas Vann and wife, Joyce; eight grandchildren, Macayla and Katelyn Llewellyn, Jordan and Madison Schofield, Calob and Britney, and Jacob and Joshua Vann; and one great-grand child, Willow Brown.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Susan's life at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, on Seagrove Beach at the Santa Clara Regional Beach Access, 3468 E County Highway 30A.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs.
