Stephanie Y. Gilbert-Prince, age 62, earned her wings on September 18, 2025. After a courageous fight, she is now resting peacefully in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Stephanie was born on March 13, 1963, in Neptune Township, New Jersey, to Gwendolyn J. Govan-Gilbert and Lee T. Gilbert. She spent her early years in both the Asbury Park and Neptune Township school districts. After graduating from high school, she went on to attend Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey, where she majored in Social Science.
Stephanie later married Timothy Steven Prince and accompanied him during his service in the United States Army, traveling alongside him as duty called. The couple eventually settled in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where Stephanie worked at a nearby hospital until her health declined.
Stephanie had a deep compassion for others, especially the elderly and animals. Throughout her life, she lovingly cared for many pets and always made time for those in need. She and Steve were blessed with two wonderful sons: David Lee Prince and Timothy Prince II.
She is survived by her mother, Gwendolyn J. Govan-Gilbert; son, Timothy S. Prince lI ”PJ”; sisters, Gwendolyn (Hilton) Whitehurst and Sonia (Robert) Farley; sister in laws, Tina (Darrell) Prince-Brown and Sharon (Mark) Prince-Kidd; nieces, Kaieta, Kenya, Tiffany, Tonya, Julisa; nephews, Robert Jr, Tim, Julius, Kevon, Josh, Nick and Josiah; an aunt, Alvera Lewis; great nieces, Taina, Michele, Keundra, and Kiara; granddaughter, Sanaa Prince; honorary family member, Genessa P. Hoskins; as well as extended family in New Jersey and a host of forever friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving spouse, Steve Prince; father, Lee Thomas Gilbert; and son, David Prince.
A funeral service will be held at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547, on Monday, September 29, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior, starting at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow immediately at Beal Memorial Cemetery. Please join the family afterward at Davis Watkins Funeral Home for a time of fellowship and remembrance.
