Shirley Delores Hecker

Shirley Delores Hecker, age 85, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020.  She was born, the oldest of four children, September 6, 1934 in Charleston, South Carolina to Thomas and Lois Combahee.  She attended boarding school, St. Joseph’s Academy in New Orleans, and enjoyed spending her summers at Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Shirley had many interests: sewing, solving crossword puzzles, traveling, shopping, cooking, listening to good music, and watching Jeopardy.   

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Robert G. Hecker; one daughter, Lisa Kelley; and her younger brother, Anthony L. Combahee;

Shirley is survived by two children, Ronald Hooks (Tiffany) Tina Buckley (Rob); six grandchildren, Chris, Isabelle, Asa, Spencer, Andrea, and Robby; one sister, Cherry Combahee Matinas (Stratton); and one brother, Thomas M. Combahee (Janet).

Thanks to all her family who flew in from California, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington State, and South Carolina offering comfort and love to a spunky and independent woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
