Sherri Edge Obituary

Surrounded by the ones she loved, comfortably and peacefully at home, Sherri moved on from this world to the next on the evening of Monday, February 15, 2021 after an epic battle with cancer.

Sherri was born at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida to the late June Parilee Deckard (Agee) and Carl Howard Deckard. She attended Pine Forest High School and after working in a number of positions eventually became the manager at T-Square Reprographics in Pensacola, before moving to the Fort Walton Beach location. Sherri stayed with the company for over 20 years until 2010 when it shut its doors. It was shortly after this that she found her calling in the hotel industry.

The Island Hotel in Fort Walton Beach, Florida had been Sherri's most recent employer, where she was a front desk supervisor. She loved her work, even as times were challenging, especially in this past year. Sherri was especially fond of the people that she worked with. She was always available for questions, for advice, or to just lend an ear when needed. Sherri was certainly missed when she could no longer work.

For just over the last 13 years, Sherri shared her life and love with Joe Little and their numerous "four-legged" children. Her love for both Joe and their pets was unconditional. Many wonderful moments occurred and through it all, their love was never in doubt. Sherri was truly a blessing to all that knew her.

A number of years ago, both Sherri and Joe were met by a couple of missionaries from the church. As these young men and women came and went, they continued to share a message of unconditional love with them. As a result, the missionaries all became her "sons and daughters from other mothers." And it was with great pride and honor that the friendships that were created remained this day. Their extended family was always something she loved to talk about, and she was eternally grateful to have.

Sherri is survived by her "other half" Joe Little, her fur babies Popcorn and Nightmare, her son Bryan Sawdon (Amber Smith), her brother Richard Deckard (Jenna), her father Carl Deckard, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, extended family and very special friends. She was preceded in death by her mother June in 2014.

Special thanks go out to the staff and caregivers at Crossroads Clinic in Niceville, Baptist Hospital and Physical Therapy of Pensacola and Navarre, and many other angels of Emerald Coast Hospice who came into contact with, cared for and loved Sherri as well.

Special thanks are also given to Jonathan Crawford, Jake Wolz, and their families for their love, prayers and support throughout this time. These two young men were a couple of Sherri's "sons from other mothers," and the world is a better place because of them.

As per her wishes, no formal service will be held, but a celebration of life will take place in her honor at the Fort Walton Beach Moose Lodge #2193, Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM located at 215 Green Acres Road.

A Go Fund Me page is still in place for anyone wishing to donate or contribute to Sherri's arrangements.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
