Shelby Jean Henderson, 86, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, went home to be with the Lord early this morning. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Shelby was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Destin, where she remained the longest-living member. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star, Fort Walton Chapter 202.
Shelby was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lynwood Jr. Henderson, with whom she shared a life of partnership and devotion.
She is survived by her three children, Tim Henderson (Shellie), Lee Henderson (Allison), and Gina Forbes (Troy). “Memaw” was adored by her grandchildren: Hunter Forbes, Taylor Wilson, Jake Henderson, Sawyer Henderson, Hollyn Cate Henderson, Benton Henderson, Luke Henderson, and Brooke Henderson, as well as her four precious great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Destin, followed by a 2:00 p.m.funeral service. Burial will take place immediately afterward at Destin Memorial Cemetery.
Shelby will be remembered for being one of a kind—never afraid to speak her mind, even if it was a little too loud. She loved spending time with her family at the hunting camp and rarely missed a chance to cheer on her favorite sports teams. Her legacy lives on in all who were blessed to know her.
