Scott Robert Snaith, age 68, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at his home in Freeport, Florida. Remembered by his family and friends as a gentle, humble, and kind man, Scott possessed a warm and generous smile that could light up any room.
Born on May 3, 1955, in Flemington, New Jersey to Robert and June Snaith, the family moved to the Florida Panhandle when Scott was 14. As a student at Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Scott, a gifted athlete, excelled in football, baseball, and basketball.
At age 19, he tapped into his keen eye for aesthetics and started his own painting business, notably painting the Hilton in Sandestin, a resort community located on the sugary shores and emerald waters in northwest Florida.
Scott met the love of his life, Leah, at Saint Andrew's By-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Destin, Florida, and they were married there in March of 1994. With his entrepreneurial spirit and talent, Scott built a dream home for himself and Leah on the water, where they had many treasured moments with family, friends, and their cherished dogs. In 2009, Scott earned his general contractor license. He went on to start Blue Bayou Builders, constructing several beautiful homes, while continuing to work as a contract painter. Later, he added day-trading to his list of expertise.
Scott was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and June.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-nine years, Leah Snaith; son, Jason McDonald (Randi); grandchildren, Merritt and Brennan McDonald; sister, Connie Snaith; brother, Andy Snaith; niece, Holley Snaith; and his loyal dog, Wilson. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate Scott's life will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Good News Church, 4747 Highway 98, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, with Father Mike Hesse officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Freeze, a non-profit organization that provides financial and emotional support to chosen individuals from South Alabama or Northwest Florida, whom are battling cancer.
