Sarah “Libby” Ard, age 83, a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at her home. She was born May 29, 1937 in Walton County to Ralph and Laura Rushing McLendon. She enjoyed fishing trips with her family, despite the fact she had lost most of her vision. Her solution to the problem with fishing was, “Let me know when the bobber goes under and I’ll pull.” While she was able to see, she raced through puzzle books. Also, she enjoyed playing video games, and “Bomberman” was her favorite. Libby’s all-time favorite pastime was playing Bingo. While in good health, her daughter would drive her from DeFuniak to Panama City every Friday and Saturday night plus Sunday to play Bingo. Libby eagerly awaited each trip from week to week.
She is preceded in death by her husband Othell Ard, two brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren.
Libby is survived by two sons; three daughters; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many friends.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1717 Oak Grove Road, Westville, Florida 32464 (Walton County) with Minister Joel Davis officiating.
Arrangements and services are under the direction of Davis-Watkins of DeFuniak Springs.
