Rose Mary, a devoted educator, woman of faith, and pillar of her community, passed away leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others. Rose Mary was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, to her loving parents, the late Joshua and Blanch McGuire. She later married Carl Barrett Randolph, the love of her life, with whom she shared a loving and devoted marriage. From an early age, she demonstrated a passion for learning and a deep sense of purpose that would guide her throughout her life. She gave her life to Christ at a young age and was a member of the Gethsemane Church of God in Christ Children’s Choir in Chicago, Illinois. After completing her graduation requirements, she relocated to Tallahassee, Florida, where she attended Florida State University. There, she earned her Bachelor’s in Science Education, laying the foundation for a lifelong career devoted to teaching and mentorship. Rose Mary began her career with the Leon County School District, where she taught middle school science and adult education classes. Her commitment to education extended far beyond the classroom. In the early 1990’s, she moved to DeFuniak Springs, Florida, where she continued her work as a science teacher and intensive reading teacher. It was there that her Boaz, Carl Barrett Randolph, found her, and together they built a life rooted in faith and love. She also took great pride in overseeing Special Olympics activities, organizing and accompanying students on trips across the state- creating meaningful experiences and lasting memories for countless children. A woman of strong faith, Rose Mary was a faithful and active member of her church. She served in many capacities over the years, always answering the call to serve wherever she was needed. Her heart was especially devoted to the youth department, where she poured her time, energy, and love into supporting and guiding young people. Rose Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. She was the proud mother of her daughter, Joslyn Latese McGuire. After the passing of her daughter, Rose Mary lovingly raised her granddaughter, Roslyn (Hinson) Chatman as her own, demonstrating extraordinary strength, resilience, and unconditional love. She was also blessed to nurture and care for Brenda Caraballo, Shareta Backey, and Edwin Carabello, embracing them as her own and leaving a lasting impact through her guidance and love. Becoming a grandmother was a joy she longed for, and when her grandson Noah arrived, she happily claimed her title early- proudly serving as his very first babysitter and making sure everyone knew it was her new full-time job. She will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to education, her faith, and the countless lives she touched through her service. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, students, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Velma Jean Bird-Tinner.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Carl Barrett Randolph; daughter, Roslyn (Nathaniel) T’Keyah Chatman; grandson, Noah Ja’siah Chatman; granddaughter, Layla Lynn Moore; brother, Joshua Levan McGuire; and a host of God’s children, spiritual children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Rose Mary will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
