Rose Mae (Bell) Thompson, age 71, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Born on February 12, 1954, Rose was the beloved daughter of the late Roger Bell, Jr. and Bernice Butler.
Rose was a devoted and hardworking woman who spent her life caring for others through her work in housekeeping and home health care. To know Rose was to love her. She was outspoken, honest, and never afraid to speak her mind; what came up usually came out. She meant what she said, and she said it with conviction. Her bold spirit was matched only by her generous heart.
Beneath her strong exterior was a caring, loving woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her presence, laughter, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her only daughter, Shanna Bell; grandchildren, Jamel Davenport, Jameka Davenport, Jakeria Bell, and Tanayzia Lee; great-grandchildren, Johniyah Robinson, Alleana Davenport, Allianna Davenport, Jhonesti Robinson, Jamel Davenport, Jr., LeRai Ingram and Santana Davenport; sisters, Wanda Muse and Tidie Baptist; and her special companion, Mr. Roy King. She is also lovingly remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Thompson, and siblings, Vivian Butler, Jessie George, Diane Tyler, Roy Bell, and Roger Bell, Jr.
A memorial service celebrating Rose’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Beulah First Baptist Church at 109 McGriff Street Northeast in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
