Robert “Bobby” Bruno, age 62, of Mary Esther, Florida, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021, in Mary Esther, Florida. Bobby was born on September 14, 1959 in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to Robert D. Bruno and the late Mary Lou Bruno.
Born into a military family, Bobby has resided in Highlands AFS, NJ, Clark AB, PI, and, since 1966, he resided in the Mary Esther Heights neighborhood. He was always very popular among his peers and cultivated many friendships wherever he went. Bobby’s contagious happy attitude and love for everyone influenced the lives of many. He loved to watch ME/TV and was his favorite sport teams were the Atlanta Braves and Miami Dolphins. Bobby enjoyed bowling with his friends and was a Special Olympian. Bobby was also very active in the community. He attended Silver Sands for 12 years then he was active in Horizons of Okaloosa County. He was a member of Mary Esther United Methodist Church and very involved in the “Specials Class” for the past 36 years. Bobby has received numerous NCOA awards and has participated in many local NCOA activities as well as attending NCOA conventions in San Antonio, TX, Las Vegas, NV, Nashville, TN, Orlando, FL, Arlington, VA, New Orleans, LA, Denver, CO, and Atlanta, GA. Bobby was loved by all that knew him and he loved his family and friends.
Bobby is survived by his father, Robert D. Bruno and his wife, Liezl I. Bruno; aunts and uncles, Donald Bruno of Merritt Island, FL, Janice Hash of Orlando, FL, and Gary and Elaine Bruno of York, PA.; numerous nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Roland and Linda Moriak. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Bruno; and brother, Jeffrey Scott Bruno.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Mary Esther United Methodist Church with Dr. Sam Parkes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the “Specials Class” at Mary Esther United Methodist Church.
