It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bob Faber, who left this world for his heavenly home on Saturday, March 22nd, at the age of 75. Bob was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Ray and Betty Faber and attended the University of Connecticut. He lived in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Carolina before finally settling in Miramar Beach, FL.
Bob had a natural talent for connecting with people (and animals alike!), whether through a casual stroll on the beach or over a game of golf, tennis, or pickleball—sports he played regularly. He was the one you could always count on to rally the group and organize the game—arranging schedules was one of his greatest gifts, along with his ability to trash-talk. His competitive spirit and (mostly) friendly banter made every match fun.
His jokes were relentless and often repeated, but they were his way of making sure you knew he cared. He was annoyingly endearing in the best possible way—always managing to charm with his lighthearted spirit. He leaves behind family and friends who will forever hear his voice cracking a joke, reminding them to loosen up and enjoy life. But more than anything, it was his ability to make people feel like old friends—no matter how long they’d known him—that made him truly unforgettable.
Faith in Jesus was important to Bob, and he cared about others coming to know Jesus as their Savior. His love for Christ was reflected in the time he spent serving and helping others. He had a big heart for young people and touched many lives throughout his life—coaching Little League sports teams, working at The Salvation Army, volunteering at Boys & Girls Clubs, and helping with church youth groups. His belief in the goodness of people was evident in the way he treated everyone—with compassion and an open heart.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his three children, Jesse (Heather), Rachel, and Brooke (Daniel); and his grandchildren, Justin, Kaitlyn, Callie, Isaiah, Shiloh, Izzy, Ruthie, Peyton, and Caroline. He is also survived by Pat’s children, Kathryn (Ed) and George, and her grandchildren, Connor (Emily), Piper, Grant, and Emma, as well as her great-grandchildren, Morgan and Luke.
A celebration of his life will be held on April 5th at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Destin, FL, where we will gather to honor his memory and celebrate his life.
As the Easter season is upon us, we hold onto these words from 1 Corinthians 15:54-56: "When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory.' 'Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?' The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Destin, FL, in his honor.
Rest in peace, Dad. You were a friend to all, and your smile, laughter, quirkiness, and love will never be forgotten.
