Robert Boroughs Obituary

Robert Erwin Boroughs, also known as “Bear,” 79, passed away at his home in Crestview, Florida on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Robert was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee on October 1st, 1944, as the oldest son to the late Grady Erwin Boroughs and the late Orville Cantrell.

He was a 1963 graduate of Washington County High School, became an Arkansas state police officer in 1976. He attended University of Arkansas during his career as a motorcycle state police officer in Little Rock, Arkansas.

During his time at the University of Arkansas, he met his wife, Marguerite Ann Boroughs. Robert and Marguerite had their only son Aaron Boroughs in August 1974.

May 1982, Robert obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University Calumet. Robert moved to Florida, obtained his certificate and training for correctional probation officer in October 1986. Finally, he obtained his master’s degree in public administration from Hawaii University in January 1997. 

​Robert was drafted by the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from March 1964 to February 1967. During his career he worked as an Armor Intel Specialist, achieved Expert in Rifle, and received the National Defense Service Medal. Robert retired with the rank of Seargent E-5.

Robert is survived by his only son, Aaron Boroughs.

Robert “Bear” Boroughs enjoyed the shooting range, fishing, hunting, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, spending time with friends and loved his son dearly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
