Richard “Ric” Joseph Glaser, age 73, passed away peacefully in his home in Destin, Florida, surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Ric was born May 23, 1952 in Blountsville, Indiana to parents, Carroll and Aurie Mae (Collins) Glaser. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Ric enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, auto racing, carpentry and was a lover of all music from The Beach Boys to Black Sabbath to Beethoven. Ric also loved spending time with his family, whether on a trip to Disney World and Universal Studios, sharing stories around a bonfire, or treating them to brunch at McGuires Irish Pub. Always a jokester, Ric loved to make people smile and his sense of humor was legendary.
Ric grew up in Blountsville, Indiana, where he graduated from Union High School in 1970. He graduated from Purdue University in 1974 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After college, Ric went into the oil industry where he had a very distinguished career with BP (Amoco), holding many jobs including Engineer, Mandan Refinery Manager, Business Unit Leader, Vice President of Olympic Pipeline Co. (subsidiary), and retiring as the Corporate Director of a ground breaking EPA reform program based in Washington, D.C. Ric’s career allowed him and his family to live all over the United States, including Indiana, Illinois, Wyoming, Texas, and North Dakota, where they made many great friends and memories. He had an incredible career, and was able to retire at the young age of fifty. In retirement, Ric enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Merry, and their close friends and family.
He is survived by his loving family including his high school sweetheart and wife of fifty-one years, Merry; children, Mellisa (Mike), Nic (Lauren) and Jeff; grandchildren, Brody and Brynn Glaser; brother, Tom; and sisters-in-law, Willie and Jody; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Fred (Marge), Jack, and Jerry, as well as sister-in-law, Karen Glaser.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
