Richard Worsham Obituary

Richard Lyn Worsham, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Niceville, Florida, on December 17, 2024, at the age of 60. Born in Hampton, Virginia, on October 2, 1964, to Richard E. Worsham and Delane Worsham, Richard grew up in Niceville, where he developed lifelong friendships and a strong connection to the community.

Richard graduated from Niceville Senior High School in 1983, where he was known for his athleticism and leadership, playing as the quarterback for the Eagle’s football team. He often reminisced about those days, sharing fond memories of the games, the friendships, and the unforgettable moments both on and off the field. He was proud of his roots in Niceville and remained a devoted member of the community throughout his life.

Richard married his loving wife, Kimberly, on November 7, 1992, in Niceville, Florida. Together, they had two children, Kayln and Ryan, and shared over three decades of love and companionship. A long-time member of Generations United Church, Richard was deeply involved in the church community, where he built lasting relationships and found peace and purpose in God’s will.

Richard was known for his funny, crazy, and larger-than-life personality. He had an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room, and his ability to make people laugh and feel welcome was one of his most cherished traits. He had a big heart, always ready to help others, and his zest for life was unmatched.

An avid racing enthusiast, Richard's passion for the sport ran deep, with roots in Alabama where his grandfather owned a racetrack. Richard spent the majority of his racing career competing in Modifieds across the Southeast. It was at a racetrack where Richard and Kim first met, marking the start of their life together. Richard took great pride in watching his son, Ryan, compete and continue his legacy on the racetrack. They shared a special bond, spending countless hours working on race cars and attending races together. Racing was not only a passion for Richard, but also a way for him to connect with friends and family, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

Richard also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and playing golf. He grew up fishing the bayous with his friends, a pastime he passed down to his children. These hobbies brought him happiness and provided the opportunity to spend quality time with those he cared about.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Worsham; daughter, Kayln Gunter and her husband, Landon Gunter; granddaughter, Kylie Gunter; son, Ryan Worsham; father, Richard E. Worsham; mother, Delane Worsham; sister, Vicki Stalnaker and her husband, Marc Stalnaker; and nephews, Cody Frazier and Zach Frazier. He is also survived by many other family members and friends whom will forever remember him for the joy, love, and support he shared.

Family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 4, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Generations United Church in Niceville, Florida. A memorial service to celebrate Richard’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Phil Daniels. The family requests that flower donations and memorial funds be made to Generations United Church in Richard's memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice, Moffitt Cancer Center, and Dr. Mose Hayes for their compassionate care. A special thank you to Generations United Church for their support, and to all our family and friends for the prayers, love, and support shown during this time.

Richard’s memory will be cherished forever by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, strength, and friendship will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling him family and friend.
