Richard Fust Obituary

Richard Martin Fust was a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Richard left us to be with our heavenly father on January 2, 2021.  His life was taken by COVID 19.

Richard was born December 21, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Herman Fust and Esther Carlson Fust. Richard grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Richard’s greatest love and focus in life was his family.  He believed in “family first.” Richard lived a very full life.  He enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing chess, and playing his keyboard. He loved sports, especially ice hockey. He was a youth ice hockey coach for many years. He loved seeing the Tampa Bay Lightning win the Stanley Cup this past year. He also loved watching football and playing golf.  Richard owned a successful commercial heating and cooling business which he operated for years in Des Moines, Iowa.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sally Fust, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; daughters, Christine Smiley, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and Patsy Combs, of Mitchellville, Iowa; sons, Marty Fustgaard, of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Jeff Fust, of Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren; and brother, Gary Fust, of Norwalk, Iowa; plus countless loved ones and friends.
