Reneice Phillips Spann, age 61, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at her residence surrounded by loved ones following a difficult battle with brain cancer. She was born March 25, 1965, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Barnard and Edna Wiseman Phillips.
Reneice was well known and loved in DeFuniak Springs. With her service of thirteen years selling furniture and twenty-three years serving in the loan and bank industry she knew countless folks. Not only did she listen to her customers she would also keep their secrets. To the family she could be considered the Hub that brought them together with her amazing gift of preparing and serving food. Even during the term of her illness, she spent several times in the kitchen giving instructions on how to make favorite meals like hoe cake, tomato gravy, and potato gravy.
Reneice is preceded in death by her father, William “Barnard” Phillips, two unborn children, Jared Christopher, and Chase Andrew; and nephew, Chey Phillips.
Reneice is survived by her husband of 42 years, Roy Spann, son, Brennen Spann, mother, Edna Wiseman Phillips Davis, brothers, Renard Phillips, and Ryan (Rachel) Phillips; sister, Recena (Jeff) Earl; and nieces and nephews, Tayler, Tara, Gabrielle, Ethan, Sage, Aubrey, Kevin, Travis, Kyle, Ben, Leah, Dawn, Misty, and Savanna.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 216 Live Oak Avenue East, DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Committal services will be private.
Flowers are being accepted; however, donations can be made to either Emerald Coast Hospice Care or First Baptist Church DeFuniak Springs Food Pantry instead.
