Ralph Rhodes

Ralph Rhodes, age 85, a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022. He was born April 12, 1936, the son of Ressie James and Mary Holman Rhodes. He graduated in 1954 from Walton High School and made the decision to be a career educator in the Florida school system. He was a faithful member of Glendale Presbyterian Church and also served as an elder. Matthew 11: 28-30 was his favorite scripture: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Ray Rhodes, who passed away in 2014 and one brother, Clinton Rhodes.

Ralph is survived by one daughter, Gayla Edwards and husband Rodney; grandchildren, Luke Edwards and Jacqueline Edwards, Rebekah Jaeger and Kyle Jaeger, and Elizabeth Edwards and Kieran Burke; great-grandchildren, Luna Jaeger, Violet Burke, Camille Edwards, Abigail Edwards, Felix Jaeger, Willa Jaeger, and Everett Burke; one son, Dusty Rhodes and wife Gena; grandchildren, Dustin Rhodes and Erin Rhodes, Mikael Rhodes and Laura Rhodes, and Jamie Rhodes and Jesse Middleton (fiancé); great-grandchildren, Liliana Rhodes, Evelyn Rhodes, and Oliver Rhodes.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 16, 2022, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Glendale Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bill Richoux officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Committal services will follow in the Glendale Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Ralph’s grandchildren are honoring him by serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Victory, a Christian camp for children, located at 363 Victory Circle, Samson Alabama 36477.
