Paula Ann Dougherty was born on April 2, 1961 in Columbus, Ohio and welcomed by her loving parents John and Ethel Evanko. The family moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida in 1975 where Paula resided until her unexpected passing on February 3, 2020.
Paula was a life-force who brought an unmatched level of energy into everything she did. She lived her life on the principle that every task deserved her all; All her attention, all her commitment, and all her passion.
Paula was uninhibited and personable; never having met a stranger. Her loyal, attentive, generous, and fun-loving personality made her a friend to many and an impossible person to forget.
Paula enjoyed caring for her grandson, shopping, going to the beach, singing along with her favorite top 40 hits, spending time with friends, and keeping a wonderful home. Her beloved Dachshund, Abbey, held an especially important place in her heart.
More than anything, Paula’s true passion and purpose was her family. She was a devoted mother who loved her son more than life itself. When she became a Grammy, she felt as if her life was complete. Paula’s way of loving others was pure and unique. It knew no boundaries, had no limits, and didn’t need any permissions. Her complete devotion to her family was unparalleled, inspiring, and truly irreplaceable.
Paula is survived by her son Ryan Dougherty, his wife Haley; grandson, Cameron; brothers, Michael and John Evanko.
Paula was preceded in death by her father, John Robert Evanko, and her mother, Ethel Leona Evanko. They are now eternally together.
A special thank you to Mike Fryer, a long time friend, who loved Paula and helped care for her during her illness.
