Pastor James E. Burnham

Pastor James E. Burnham, age 74, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 at his residence.  He was born March 20, 1948, in Macon, Georgia, to James Houston Burnham and Kathleen Skipworth Burnham. James had a long career in law enforcement, but is most remembered for being a Baptist preacher who loved sharing the word of God with others. He was married to the love of his life, Nola, for 57 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time, but most of all spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; half-sisters, Mary Lois Floyd and Joyce Green; and half-brother, Frankie Burnham.

James is survived by his loving wife, Nola Burnham; son, James D. Burnham and wife Tracy of Navarre, Florida; daughter, Melinda A. Prosser and husband Chuck of Weeki Wachee, Florida; sisters, Linda Watson and husband Benny of Atmore, Alabama and Kay Woodcock of Brewton, Alabama; five grandchildren, Nena, Cody, Austin, Jared, and Kayla; seven great-grandchildren; and loving friends, Effie Hall and Donna Goldsmith. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, beginning at noon.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Committal services will follow at Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery beginning at 3:30 p.m.
