Opal Chisholm

Surrounded by her family, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Opal Chisholm, of DeFuniak Springs, went home to be with the Lord March 9, 2026. Born in Destin September 4, 1933, Opal was the third child and only daughter of Edward and Alice Wells. After attending elementary school in Destin and high school in Fort Walton, she began a long career in civil service. Her hard work lead her to a key role as a secretary in a product directorate at Eglin Air Force Base. While her career was important to her, she found her greatest fulfillment in the adventures she shared with her husband and two children in Alaska during their youth. In later years, she continued to enjoy quilting and clamming in Alaska with her husband until his passing in 2018. Opal was most proud of her eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, who are now scattered from Florida to Texas. She is survived by two of her children and all of her grandchildren, all of whom will miss her tremendously.
