Norman Jordan Obituary

Norman Lee Jordan was born on October 18th,1946, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to the late Goldie (McCaskill) Jordan and Charlie Jordan Senior. He graduated from Tivoli High School in 1966 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army.  In 1971, he met and married Lurethia Bryant Harris, and from that union, one son was born, Mantiola Al. Jordan. Norman’s military service allowed him to travel extensively.  Among the many places he visited, he developed a deep love for Hawaii.  He went on to work at Tripler Army Medica Center in Hawaii, where he dedicated over 30 years before retiring. Following his retirement, Norman returned to DeFuniak Springs to be near his family.  In 2020, he became a proud homeowner. In his earlier years, he enjoyed visiting his son and family.  He had a deep appreciation for home-cooked meals and could spend days watching his favorite sports – football, basketball and baseball.  No matter the season, he was always tuned in.  Norman also had an unmatched love for hats, amassing a vast collection of baseball caps representing various teams with some even embroidered with his name. He had a heart of gold and was known for his kindness, strong work ethic, and pride in his accomplishments.  He always ended his phone calls with the reassuring words, “Tell everyone I’m doing good, and I love them.”

Norman is preceded in death by his brothers, Mainor McCaskill and Charlie Jordan Jr.; and his sisters, Yvonne Copeland, Princess Copeland, and Myra Jordan.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his son, Mantiola Jordan (Karen); four grandsons, Tyrell, Donovan, Marcus and Michael; his brother, Adrian Jordan; four sisters, Carol Davis, Gloria Jordan and Marva Soumare (John), and Sonora Jordan; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
