Norman F Gaudette passed away on August 27, 2020 at 80 years. Norman was born on September 3, 1939 on Seflridge Field near Mt. Clemens Michigan to Julia and Alphonse Gaudette. The family moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1946 when his father was transferred to Eglin Field. Norman attended St. Mary’s School in Fort Walton Beach, St. Bernard’s in Cullman Alabama for high school, and he graduated from the University of Florida in 1962. He started his career in the Air Force as an officer at Hanscom Field in Bedford MA where he met his wife Helen. Accounting, finance, and budgeting were his professional focus in his assignments at Udorn in Thailand, Manzano AFB in New Mexico, Iraklion Air Force Base (Crete, Greece), Kelly AFB in Texas, Defense Personnel Support Center in Philadelphia PA and Langley AFB in Hampton VA, before finishing his Air Force career as the base comptroller for Hurlburt Field near Fort Walton Beach in 1984. After retiring from the Air Force, Norman served as an auditor for the Air Force Audit agency at McGuire AFB in New Jersey and Eglin AFB until his second retirement in 2006. Norman was an active volunteer in organizations including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts of America, the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Senior Special Olympics FWB, and he volunteered time as a poll worker with his wife Helen in Fort Walton. Norman cared for his family above all other things in his life. Norman enjoyed vacationing with his wife and family, playing golf, and the companionship of his friends and neighbors. He is survived by his wife Helen in Fort Walton Beach and his son Norman (Skip) Gaudette Jr in North Carolina.
