Nancy Catherine Bray Bright, age 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 19, 2025, in Destin, Florida.
Born on January 15, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Thompson “Toss” Columbus Bray and Nancy Catherine “Kitty” Todd. She graduated from Emory at Oxford College and attended Georgia State University Business School. In 1969, she married Harold Bright. Together, they moved to Huntsville, Alabama in June of 1972, where Nancy faithfully nurtured her family and served her community for many years.
Nancy’s life was marked by grace, generosity, and quiet resilience. She taught piano to many, homeschooled her children, loved fishing with her family, treasured her bible study groups, and remained active in the life of her church. She was a woman of deep faith, finding her joy and purpose in Christ, and reflecting His love to those around her.
She is lovingly remembered by Harold Bright; her daughter, Beverly Powell (David); her son, Dr. Andrew Bright (Heather); and six grandchildren: Isabella, Evelyn, and Michael Powell, and Rex, Micah, and Adelaide Bright. She is also survived by her brother, Todd Edwin Bray (Terri); nephews, Daniel and Joshua; nieces, Presley and Scarlett; and her cousins: Mike, Dick, and Jack Perpall; as well as Bob and Bill Wages.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 50 Beach Drive, Destin, Florida with Rev. Dewey Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
We rejoice that Nancy is now in the presence of the Lord, her body made whole and her mind at peace. We give thanks for the legacy of faith, forgiveness, love, and quiet courage she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church or to the church or ministry of your choosing, in honor of Nancy’s deep love for the body of Christ.
