John (Hillard) Courtney, age 83, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on July 24, 2021 at Destin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on December 24, 1937 in Baker, Florida to Jack and Onia (Lundy) Courtney. He was a graduate of Baker High School. After graduation, He married the love of his life, Mrs. Carol Courtney on November 29, 1957. He later went on the serve his country proudly for 21 years in the United States Air Force. Throughout his military career, he was stationed in Arizona, Libya, Texas and then closer to home at Hurlburt Field and Eglin Air Force Base. John loved the outdoors. He Enjoyed fox hunting and deer hunting and was a strong follower of Christ.
Hillard is survived by his children, John A. Courtney and Diana Courtney; parents, Jack and Onia (Lundy) Courtney; grandparents, John and Elizabeth Lundy and Thomas and Rosie Courtney; siblings, Donald (Ferrell) Courtney, Betty Courtney and Judy Courtney Harrell; as well as three nephews, one niece and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Courtney; daughter, Cathy Courtney; brother, Roger Courtney and brother-in-law, Glen Harrell.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Good Hope Congregational Church, 6937 FL-4, Baker, FL 32531 beginning at 2:00pm with Pastor Alton Nixon officiating. A Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service. Per families request, “please come as you are.”
