Milton Herbert Purdy, Jr., of Florida’s Emerald Coast, passed away peacefully at home on November 3. He was born in Port Washington, New York, and lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for family.
A proud and decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, Milton served his country for 20 years, including during the Vietnam War, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He then went onto work at Science Applications International Corporation. Following his distinguished military career, he continued to serve his community through his work in real estate, managing rental properties and redeveloping homes.
Milton now joins his beloved wife, Sharon, who passed away nine years ago, as well as his son, Douglas, and daughter, Kip. He is survived by his daughters, Kerry, Tracy, and Thao, and his sons, David, Art. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory, stories, jokes and legacy.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fort Walton Beach on Veterans Day, November 11, beginning at 12:00 noon.
The interment will take place at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery, to be joined with his wife, Sharon.
Milton will be remembered for his strength of character, devotion to family, and lifelong commitment to service. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
