Michael James Walters

Michael James Walters, 46, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida went home to be with the Lord peacefully at his home the morning of Friday, April 22, 2022.  Michael was born December 5, 1975 in Walnut Creek, California to his loving parents, Jaqueline Silvia and Richard Walters. Not only was he a very loyal Raiders fan, Michael also loved cooking and he loved doing so with his youngest daughter, Atterol.  He served in the National Guard for many years and then went on to work in many different positions at South Bay Lumber. Being very athletic, he even coached many of his children's sports' teams and was very devoted to his children and grandchildren, loving them very much.  Michael was raised southern Baptist and stayed of that faith until his passing.

Michael is survived by his children; Samantha (Derek), Thayne Walters (Nikki), Tyrus Walters and Atterol Walters; mother, Jacqueline Silvia of DeFuniak Springs; father, Richard Walters(Geri) of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Carter, Isabella, Leilani and Theodore; sisters, Mandie Walters, Mollie Walters (Jason), Stephanie Silvia, Megan Greak (Jesse) and Marie Greak (Vincent). Michael also held the title of godfather for many. He has numerous special aunts and uncles that he loved dearly.  Many nephews, nieces and cousins held a special place in his heart, in addition to many friends who loved him. 

Michael was preceded in death by his Vavu, Fransisco Silvia; his Vavo, Janet Silvia; his papa, James “Jim” Walters; his grandmother, Dorthy Walters; aunt, Kimberley Landers and cousin, Dallas Walters. 

A celebration of Michael's life will be held beginning at 10:00 A.M, Saturday, April 30, 2022 in the chapel of Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, Defuniak Springs, Florida 32433.  Flowers may be sent to Davis-Watkins Funeral Home in DeFuniak Springs.
