Michael Hendrix Obituary

Michael Hendrix, 67, of Freeport, FL, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, surrounded by those he loved most.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Earl Thomas Hendrix; his mother, Laura May Bivonia-Hendrix; his brother, Dennis Hendrix; and his half-brothers, Chris and Jerry Hendrix.

He is survived by his daughters, Jasey Dawn Hendrix and Hayley Frazier, and his nephews, Brendan and Nicholas Hendrix.

Born on April 5, 1958, in Jacksonville, Alabama, Michael Hendrix was the second child of Earl Thomas Hendrix and Laura May Bivonia Hendrix. His early years took him to Fall River, Massachusetts, where he graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School before continuing on to Boston University, proudly earning his degree in mechanical engineering.

Throughout his life, he called many places home—New Mexico, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida. Wherever he went, he gathered steadfast friends whose loyalty and love carried him through some of the hardest seasons of his life. His circle remained small by choice; he was intentional about who he allowed into his world. But once you were in, you were in for life. His relationships—some lifelong, some discovered only in the later chapters of his story—remain threads in the legacy of love he leaves behind.

Mike eventually settled in the Florida Panhandle, where he built a successful career as a contractor in the construction industry and earned a reputation for fairness, integrity, and generosity. Having been given a second chance himself, he believed deeply in offering the same to others. He gave forgiveness freely and offered a hand up as often as it was needed.

He loved his work, and Monday through Friday you could find him driving up and down Hwy 30A checking on jobs and “surveying the quagmire”. Saturdays were reserved for Alabama football, and Sundays for seven o’clock tee times and the New Orleans Saints.

His life changed forever soon after arriving in North Florida, starting his business, and placing a want ad for painters—an ad that, unexpectedly, brought his future family to his doorstep. Like all of us, he made choices and mistakes along the way—some he would have given anything to go back and change. But when Jennifer and Jasey Hendrix entered his life, his redemption was complete. He spent the rest of his days being loved beyond measure. He was simply the best—and will forever be our Saint Mike.
