Martha Cook, age 77 , passed away November 2, 2025. She was the youngest of twelve children belonging to the McMillan family of Ponce de Leon, Florida, all of which have preceded her in death except one sister, Betty Dozier. Martha enjoyed ambient music, the beach, nature, and gardening when her health permitted. She loved spending time with her sons and grandchildren.
Phillip, her younger son, stated moms are all special, and he loved his mother with every waking moment, especially during her last days when he became her caregiver and grew closer to her even more. He said, “we laughed, grumbled, cried, and then laughed a little more. She was my best friend.” He finds comfort in knowing she isn’t in pain anymore and is in a better place. He feels her presence daily. She is preceded in death by six brothers, Billy, Bobby Frank, James, Samuel, Grover, Jr., and William McMillan and four sisters, Bonnie Faas, Johnnie Mae Burkett, Fanny Carroll, and May Tilley.
Martha is survived by two sons, Phillip and Nickolas Cook; three granddaughters, Veronica, Sabrina, and Willow Cook; two grandsons, James and Nicholas Cook; one sister, Betty Dozier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her wishes, Martha will be cremated with no funeral service. Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of Bonifay is in charge of the arrangements.
