Marilyn Stowe Obituary

Marilyn Jean Stowe, 71, of Sandestin, Florida, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital, Sandestin, FL.  She was born August 9, 1949 to Jean and Willis Weikal in Dodge City and grew up in Bucklin, Kansas.  She graduated from Emporia State Teacher’s College in 1972.  She married David Stowe on August 11, 1979 in Augusta, Kansas.   Marilyn and David lived in Virginia, Texas, and even London, England before retiring to Sandestin, Florida where they lived together for over twenty-one years.   Marilyn was an avid golfer and proud to have won the Burnt Pines Ladies Member-Guest four years in a row.  She valued family above all and took great joy in hosting Christmas in Kansas City for the whole family.

Survivors include her husband, David Stowe; her three sons, David M. Stowe and his wife, Laura, Matthew Stowe and his wife, Ann,  and Andrew Stowe and his wife, Genna;  her brother, Larry Weikal;  her two sisters, Judy Kuoppala and husband, Ken, and Linda Cuevas and her husband, Jaime;  one niece, Michelle Weltman and her husband, Darren; two nephews, Danny Kuoppala and Neil Jantzen;  and six grandchildren, Mattingly Stowe, Stephanie Fleetwood, Juliet Stowe, Lillian Fleetwood, Bella Stowe, and Nathan Stowe.  Her parents preceded her in her death.

Services will be held for the family and close friends at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City on February 20, 2021 at 10:30 A.M.
