Margaret McMullen

Margaret McMullen died November 3, 2021 at age of 95. Margaret McMullen was born Margaret Kirkham on February 19, 1926 in St Anne’s by the sea, Lancashire, England. She was a war bride meeting her husband Albert, a staff Sargent in the Army Air Corps at the Blackpool Tower Dance Club. She was a cosmetologist, owning her own salon at 222 N. Monroe St, Monroe, Michigan and retired to Mary Esther, Florida. 

Her husband predeceased her on June 23, 1991. She had three children; Carol (Evans), Kirk, McMullen of Monroe Michigan and Lynn (Brenton) of Mary Esther, Florida. Carol predeceased her on April 11, 2011.

She has 4 grandchildren, Renee Evans (Mushung) of Monroe, Derek McMullen of Alameda, California, Meredith McMullen(Galati) of Columbus, Ohio and Ryan Brenton of Beaumont, Texas; six great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

She enjoyed ballroom dancing and was a medalist in English ballroom competitions. She enjoyed having tea with her friends (and more recently having coffee with her new friends at Bayport) and was an occasional bird watcher. She loved spending time with family, friends and always had a smile on her face. She donated to every charity from the Indians to the Calvary (veteran’s groups was one of her favorites along with children’s hospitals).

Anyone interested in donating in her name are encouraged to donate to the Florosa Volunteer Fire Department who came to her rescue several times a month when she just bumped her life alert, to their favorite charity or to the family at Kirk McMullen, 840 St James Park Ave, Monroe, Mi 48161.

Margaret will be buried at Roselawn cemetery, Lasalle, Mi. with her husband and daughter, Carol. Services will be at a later date. Call Kirk at +17344108086.
