Malcolm Shields Obituary

Rev Malcolm Kay Shields

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Malcolm Kay Shields, a longtime resident of Strongsville Ohio. He passed away peacefully in his home in Destin, Florida at the age of 87 on March 31, 2025, He was preceded in death by his dear parents, Frank and Catherine Shields of Chattanooga, TN, and is survived by his loving wife of 64years, Carol, his two children; Kim (Dan) Taylor and Eric (Susan) Shields, plus 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Malcolm lived a life of service to others. He met and married Carol in Birmingham, AL. He attended Duke University where he excelled academically, and also was on the track team. Malcolm then moved with Carol to Louisville, where he attended and graduated from the Louisville Seminary and went on to serve in small churches in Paoli and Madison Indiana until he moved to the Cleveland area in 1972. Malcolm faithfully served as a pastor at Parma South Presbyterian Church for almost 30 years, and also was active in the Presbytery of the Western Reserve, where he served in various capacities

In his personal time, Malcolm loved music and was a supporter of the Cleveland Orchestra. He was also an avid reader, loved to play golf year round with his many friends and played bridge with numerous groups. He loved to travel with Carol, and with the friends they had from all over the country. His sense of adventure was motivation to see all of God’s beauty in the US and abroad.

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Brookdale Assisted Living and Vitas Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.

John 14:1-4 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.      A private graveside service will be held on 4/24/2025 at Gulf Cemetery in Santa Rosa Beach Florida.
