Lura Ann Hickey

Lura Hickey, age 56, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away on April 13, 2026. Born Lura Ridner in Indianapolis, Indiana, she later made her home in DeFuniak Springs, where she spent her years caring for her family and creating a life centered around love and connection. Lura was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from the people she loved most. She had a special fondness for her phone games, often spending quiet moments enjoying them, and she dearly loved her dog, who was a constant companion. Above all, Lura was known for her caring heart. She loved deeply, especially when it came to her grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and happiness.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Chinn.

Lura is survived by her children, Tara Hickey, Dallis Prue, Violet Hickey, and James Hickey; her mother, Ernestine Angel; her sister, Karen Gregory; her brother, Charlie Chinn; and her beloved grandchildren, Blake Hickey, Carter Prue, Gaven Hickey, Kailyn Hickey, and Braden Hickey.

Lura will be remembered for her kindness, her love for her family, and the warmth she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation services will be provided by Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, honoring Lura’s wishes.
