Lucy Mae Wood

Lucy Mae Wood, age 80, was born February 24, 1945, and joined hands with Jesus on August 7, 2025, peacefully at home with family by her side.  She was a great servant for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. 

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, Fallie and Clara Bailey; eleven brothers and sisters; two sons, Randy and Thomas; and one grandson, Andrew.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Talmadge Wood; son, David Wood (Norma); daughter, Debra Cherry; son, Shawn Wood; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three great grandchildren with another due to arrive in November; her grand pup, River (Creek) who was also by her side till the end. 

Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Joey Sowell, Paris Sanders, William White, Andrew White, Tony Bailey, and Nick Schoonmaker.  Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Cherry.

The family will be accepting flowers and/or donations to assist with burial.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Living Waters Church, 605 South Johnson Street, Samson, Alabama 36477 beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Woody Dupree officiating.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Committal will follow at Limestone Cemetery.
