Lucille Peters, age 79, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully January 2, 2026. She was born March 2, 1946, to the late Jim and Cordie Redmon in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. In 2012, she retired from the Walton County School System where she was employed as a custodian at Walton High School. Known for her love of gardening and thrifting, Lucille could typically be found in the yard working with her flowers or shopping at a variety of her favorite stores.
She is preceded in death by one sister, Ailene Mount.
Lucille is survived by her husband of 60 years, Rayneal Peters; children, Tammy Bradley (Billy), Greg Peters (Louise), and Rebecca Atchison; five grandchildren, Nick Bradley (Kayla), Kelby Sheets (Shelby), Chelsae Sheets, Haley Peters, and Blake Peters; and four great-grandchildren, Braylon, Brixton, Meredith, and Raelyn.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Darlington Baptist Church, 4751 FL-2 East, Westville, Florida 32464, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Barry Joiner officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Committal services follow in the church cemetery.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers: Nick Bradley, Kelby Sheets, Tyler Merritt, Wyndol Laird, Don Wilkerson, and Tony Wilkerson.
