LLOYD RAY HUDGENS
July 7, 1943 – June 8, 2025
Lloyd Ray Hudgens, age 81, of Valparaiso, Florida passed away after a long fight with Alzheimer’s on June 8, 2025.
Born on July 7, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lawrence and Helen Hudgens. Upon graduation from Lafayette High School, he proudly served his country in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Utilizing his years of military service he continued his career as a Medical Technologist working for thirty-two years at HCA Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Lloyd was a faithful member of the Niceville Church of Christ, where his commitment to the Lord and love for his church family were evident in both word and deed. He believed in the promises of Christ.
One of his favorite pastimes was history, especially the Civil War battles. He enjoyed playing games on the computer along with talking to any listening ear on any topic once you got him started.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of forty years, Carol L Hudgens; his daughter, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Hernandez and her partner, Ben; his son, Curtis Thomas and wife, Alina; his grandchildren, Christopher Hernandez and Alyssa Thomas; and his sisters-in-law, Marcella Hudgens, Mattie Williams, and Judith Nemeth (husband, John). He also leaves behind eight nieces and eight nephews who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Hudgens; and his brother, Lawrence (Larry) Hudgens, along with two nieces and one nephew.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Niceville Church of Christ. Lloyd will be laid to rest with military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief or the Churches of Christ Disaster Response Team.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Gentiva Hospice and The Manor at Bluewater Bay for all the loving care they gave Lloyd over the past months.
