Lewis James Brannon, age 85, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones in Crestview, Florida. He was born July 21, 1940, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to David Buddy Brannon and Lillian Gandy Brannon. In his spare time, Lewis found joy in simple pleasures. He cherished sitting on his porch, watching the deer and turkey, and enjoyed riding his tractor. Gardening was a beloved pastime, and he took delight in watching sports and westerns. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Lillian Brannon; one brother, Frank Brannon.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Betty Brannon; three children, Steven Brannon, Karen Brannon, and Elizabeth Brannon King; four stepchildren, Billy Ray, Gary, Janie and Sue; two grandchildren, Shane Boone (Victoria) and Paige Boone; two great grandchildren, Kaden Spader and Harper Boone; one brother, Bert Brannon (Martha); numerous step-grandchildren, great step-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Douglas Hogg officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Committal will follow at Southwide Baptist Church Cemetery.
