Leland Owen Betts of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away at his home. He was born September 14, 1942 in Apollo, Pennsylvania to the late Emmanuel D. and Dora A. Wadsworth Betts. Leland was known to everyone as “Lee.” He was well known in this area as a mechanic and a carpenter. He was always eager to share his mechanic abilities with the family, keeping their vehicles rolling, giving his time lovingly. Lee worked for many years with his brothers, restoring beautiful homes in DeFuniak Springs. Just like his brothers, his greatest love was his music. Family members will always remember the sound of his voice as he played his guitar and sang the songs that he cherished. May he rest in peace.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon of Apollo, Pennsylvania; three brothers, Stanley D. Betts, Reb (Daryl C. Betts) , and Timothy R. Betts all of DeFuniak Springs Florida; and one nephew, Alfred Joseph Latorella of Nashville, Tennessee.
Lee is survived by four sisters, Judith Grady of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Carolyn Campbell of Melbourne, Florida, Pamela Stuart of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and Kimberly Gipson and husband Tony; and many nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID, the family has decided not to have a memorial service at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home and Crematory of DeFuniak Springs.
