Larry "Nick" Hugh Nicodemus, went to be with the Lord on January, 23, 2025. He was born on June 12, 1936 to Robert Lee Nicodemus and Ruther Ander Nicodemus Alexander in Piqua, Ohio.
Nick joined the National Guard at the young age of 17 and from there transferred over to the Air Force in October 1954. He served over twenty years in the Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant on December 30, 1974. During his time in the Air Force, he earned many awards, certificates and honors.
Nick joined Auer Marine as a Parts Manager in 1976 and worked there for twenty-seven years. He served as a Sunday School teacher with the First Presbyterian Church of Destin for many years after his retirement in 1974, and also volunteered as an umpire with the Destin Little League.
Nick, as known to many, was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to fish and brag about all of his catches!! He restored a boat and took many family and friends out on Sunday’s to show off his fishing knowledge and skills. He won many fishing tournaments and he also won many bowling trophies back in the day, as well.
Nick taught his children and grandchildren how to play baseball, softball, pulli worms for bait out of the ground, fresh and saltwater fishing, and so much more. He was always giving his time to teach and be available to mentor others. He was a child at heart, loved joking and playing pool. He was great at whatever he did. He worked out daily to keep healthy and fit; he was a very active individual whom didn’t know how to take it slow or just relax. He was a wonderful caregiver when he was needed and provided that love and compassion to many that were in need during their time of need. He was a diamond in the rough; he could come across rough but was just a big ol’ teddy bear at heart. There wasn’t a girl that wasn’t known to him as “his girl”; he was loved by so many and will be missed like no other. His loss was sudden, because he never complained of feeling bad. He will forever be in our hearts, and remembered in a loving way. The most important thing he taught us, is how to love unconditionally and how to forgive, and to never take anyone for granted. He is and was “the MAN”.
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Anderson Nicodemus; son, Leon Fransisco (Audrey); daughter, Beverly Nicodemus (Andy); son, Larry L. Nicodemus (Marta); grandson, Robert E. Zollner; granddaughter, Rachel E. Bjornstad; great grandchildren, Alexis Bjornstad, Aden Bjornstad, and Zane Zollner; and sister, Shirley Gray (Bob). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl A. Castro; and siblings, John, Bill, Swaney and Helen.
