Larry Dale Griffin, age 72, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed peacefully at home on Friday, August 27th, 2021. Larry was born April 18th, 1949 in Price, North Carolina to Lottie and EW Griffin who proceeded him in death.
Larry graduated from Pfeiffer University In North Carolina Majoring in English and minoring in Plays and set design. After college, Larry worked in service industry management for various companies including Tuscaloosa Country Club and The Capitol Club in Montgomery. Of his restaurant work, he loved Harbor Docks and the staff the most. After moving to Destin, he started Studio III Art group with Mark Bonner. His murals and faux finish work grace many homes across the South. Larry was a member of St Andrews by the city Episcopal Church. He served as a Lay Eucharistic minister, Acolyte, Lector, Member of the Bell choir, Flower guild artist, audit committee, Diocesan Delegate, Fellowship guild and many other areas of ministry. Larry was a gentle, kind and beautiful soul who loved everyone he met. His blue eyes and twinkling smile blessed your heart and spirit. He brought joy just by his presence.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Genelle and Lonnie Cox; his brother, Daryl Griffin; niece, Tessa Griffin; and great neices and nephew. He also survived by his family of choice Jim Cooper and Mark Bonner, Kanna Davis and family, Dakota Gray and family, and his puppies Odis and Bailey.
Larry's service will be held at St Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church in Destin, Florida on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 beginning at 10:00am. No flowers or gifts please, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the Blue Door Ministry in Larry's name
